Everton fans here at the Tavern are keen to forget last summer’s dreadful waste of money as they splurged £150m on new players to become worse as a team.
It threatened to be a lot worse for the Toffees as well because early on, they were on the verge of the relegation places, not what spending £150 million was thought to be used for. The transfer scouting system at Everton needs to undergo a complete overhaul to ensure the Toffee’s don’t find themselves red-faced again.
One Premier League proven player that Everton could reignite is Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko, valued at £18 million according to Transfermarkt. The Frenchman has been a real disappointment at Spurs following his £30 million move from Newcastle in the summer of 2016 but a move to Goodison Park could allow him the stage needed to show the league once more what he is capable of.
Despite being deemed a waste of money mind you, Tottenham have still utilised the 28-year-old 38 times this season in all competitions they find themselves involved in. Within that game-time, he has scored two goals and assisted his fellow team-mates on four separate occasions.
With the big names in Tottenham’s team, it is always going to be hard for Sissoko to fully establish himself as a regular in the side. Therefore if he moved to Everton, he would be a lot more likely to find regular football and the chance to be a key player for the Toffees might be tempting.
Punters seem to agree that Moussa Sissoko could fit in well at Everton as they look to rebuild their tarnished reputation from this season’s rollercoaster performances.
