Everton have had a rollercoaster start to the season as fear is starting to set in that Marco Silva and his team might not be quite good enough yet.
Even after spending a fair amount over the summer, Everton have yet to gain any real consistency and that is a worry for some. There is no doubt they have the players and the manager to turn things around but these fans want improvements and fast.
In defence, they have still had their fair share of problems, particularly with Seamus Coleman injured again meaning Kenny has taken his place.
As good as both can be, fans can’t help but think with an upgrade like Mario Fernandes, Everton would be a lot stronger.
Fernandes, (who is valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt) has been a terrific player for CSKA Moscow and continues to be this season as well. He has made 12 appearances so far, coming from right midfield or right back but either way, his contribution is key, having provided four assists already.
As good a servant Seamus Coleman has been to the club, too often now he is proving to be unreliable due to injuries and although it would be hard to replace him, Fernandes is a right-back with a tremendous amount of quality, as he showed during the World Cup for Russia.
The 28-year-old is a real engine that constantly gets up and down the wing, helping in defence then setting up an attack. With versatility to be more defensive-minded or to play as a winger, Everton would add a player with a great deal of quality meaning competition for places would be even greater.
