With the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern enduring a rather miserable start to the season, the punters propping up our bar are desperate to see the club improve.
Indeed, the Toffees in our Tavern can’t believe how bad Ronald Koeman’s men look after spending so much money over the course of the summer and miss Romelu Lukaku an awful lot.
So, reports from the Daily Mail linking the club with one of Europe’s top strikers have gone down an absolute storm today.
They claim the Merseyside outfit retain an ambitious interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani, who was recently involved in an on-field spat with Neymar. The two argued over a penalty and recent reports suggest the Brazilian had demanded Cavani’s sale.
Having already played second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic during his stint in the French capital, the former Napoli man will surely be forced to bow to Neymar’s demands after the Ligue 1 giants broke a world record to sign him.
Everton, Chelsea and former club Napoli are all thought to be keen on the 30-year-old, though a move would be difficult. He’s understood to be on around £120k-p/w after tax and desires Champions League football, potentially scuppering a move to Goodison Park.
Still, as you can imagine, the idea of seeing Cavani arrive at Everton has seriously excited our fans.
