Speaking to Football Insider about Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure so far as Everton manager, former England international Danny Mills has suggested that the Italian can ‘transform‘ Goodison Park and elevate the Toffees to success.
Ancelotti, who has managed to go on a run of one defeat in eight Premier League games since he took over from the sacked Marco Silva, with that loss coming against current champions Manchester City, is currently winning over critics and supporters alike with his apparent re-invigoration of a side that previously couldn’t build momentum. Now, the Toffees are on an uphill trajectory, winning three out of their last five and scoring an impressive 10 goals inside those fixtures. Their latest outing, a 3-1 victory at home to Crystal Palace courtesy of strikes from Bernard, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has elevated Ancelotti’s side to seventh in the table and just five points off a top four place.
As a result, Mills has had nothing but praise for the ex-AC Milan boss, going on to state how he can prove to be an ‘effective‘ appointment whilst describing how ‘superb‘ he has been in the role thus far.
“He really has been superb,” explained the former Leeds United defender.
“When you listen to his interviews, his calmness, he’s been there, he’s done it, he’s seen it at every pretty much every single football club. He builds projects.
“He first went into PSG and he built a project. That was what he was all about. He transformed the whole club.
“It’s not just what he does instantly, it’s what he will do over the course of time. I think he’ll be very, very effective.”
If Ancelotti keeps building momentum at this rate, you could be correct in theorising that a top six place is realistic, with the future currently looking bright in stark contrast to Silva’s last few months in charge.
