According to a report from SportBild via Sport Witness, Everton are among the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Leicester City in reportedly monitoring RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg, with the Swedish playmaker finding game time difficult to come by in the Bundesliga.
Forsberg, who has started just 10 league games for Leipzig this campaign but still managed to register five goals and two assists from midfield (WhoScored), is currently playing second fiddle under boss Julian Nagelsmann despite being a club legend.
The Swede moved to Leipzig back in the summer of 2015 from Malmo, going on to play a pivotal role in their promotion to the German top flight whilst continuing to impress in the Bundesliga. Overall, Forsberg has made 165 appearances for the club, scoring 37 goals and setting up 50 as a playmaker (Transfermarkt).
However, despite his presence during Leipzig’s rise to the top, Nagelsmann has opted to mostly restrict Forsberg’s appearances this season to those of a substitute, with rumours now circulating over the 28-year-old’s future. SportBild suggest that Everton have been ‘offered‘ the chance to sign him if the money is right, with this report stating that Leipzig value the player at around £16.8m.
Described as a ‘bona-fide’ playmaker with a ‘razor sharp’ philosophy by the Bundesliga’s official website, Forsberg’s signing could be a decent acquisition as manager Carlo Ancelotti searches for creative talent going forward given his statistics.
