Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are pleased with the progress they’ve made under Ronald Koeman this season, and they’re keen to see how their beloved side will push on next term.
The Toffees face the prospect of losing some big names this summer and will be well tested to find capable replacements, although owner Farhad Moshiri is likely to provide funds to Koeman to strengthen in all areas.
Offloading fringe players will also be vital to raising the funds for Koeman to spend and Aiden McGeady has once again stated his intention to leave Goodison Park on a permanent basis this summer, having impressed during a loan stint with Preston North End.
McGeady won Player of the Year at Deepdale and is keen to return to the Championship side next season, telling The Lancashire Post:
“I’ve said it before, I would like to stay here. Ultimately, I’m probably not going to have the final say but I’m in a strong position with Everton because I know they don’t want me.”
“Whether it is going to be another loan or Everton want to sell me, I don’t really know. I will probably find that out in the summer.”
“I would like to come back to Preston – if it was between here and another team who were going to pay me slightly more money, I would rather come here. I know the set-up, I know the lads and manager.”
Having faced little competition to land McGeady on-loan during Deadline Day last August, the performances of the Irishman have led other sides to express interest but our landlord believes player power will see him return to Deepdale next season.
