Everton eyeing bargain potential Barkley replacement ahead of summer window

Although Romelu Lukaku’s Everton future has been dominating conversations among Toffees fans here in the Transfer Tavern of late, Ross Barkley’s spell at Goodison Park is also unclear.

The England international has been linked with the likes of Spurs and Chelsea of late and manager Ronald Koeman has even told the playmaker to sign a new contract with the club or be sold.

And now reports from Goal reveal that replacements are being eyed, with Greuther Furth’s Robert Zulj being looked at.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has been one of the stars of the show for his side in Bundesliga 2 action this term, netting six goals and weighing in with two assists.

Goal claim that his form and potential has led to interest from Everton, who could initiate talks with him ahead of Bosman move now.

The Austrian will be a free agent in a few months’ time and with Greuther Furth unlikely to make the leap up to the top tier, he might be tempted to move on.

Given that he operates in an attacking midfield berth, Zulj could, on paper, replace Barkley if he moves on, or add competition on the banks of the River Mersey.

Ross Barkley needs to leave Everton for the good of his career – agree?
