The Everton fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Football Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that they face competition in their bid to land their first choice midfielder this summer.
According to a report on Spanish website Super Deporte, La Liga side Valencia have joined the Premier League side in the hunt for Man United midfielder, Juan Mata.
It appears that the Spaniard’s days are numbered at Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho set to sell the former Chelsea man for the second time after being the man who sold him to the Red Devils in the first place.
The news will be a blow to Everton manager Ronald Koeman, who was hoping that his side would be first choice as the next destination for the midfielder, but with the Spanish side declaring interest it could mean that Mata would prefer a move home.
During his time at Old Tradford the 28-year-old has made 54 appearances and scored on 10 occasions, but will be hoping for happier times should he leave Lancashire.
