Everton fans have been praising former striker Marcus Bent after he said that the Toffees will always be his “family”.
The 41-year-old spent two seasons at the club after his move from Leicester in 2004 and created a cunning partnership with himself and the Australia international Tim Cahill, with manager David Moyes loving his athleticism and his aerial ability.
His debut season was the best of his short Goodison Park tenure, scoring six goals in 37 appearances which helped the Blues qualify for the Champions League for the first time in its newly-reformed manner.

Was brilliant for us Dave. The season we finished 4th, I bet nobody came near to running the amount of miles he did. Always gave 100%. Class 👏🏻👏🏻

Lot of time for Marcus Bent. His selfless running opened up so many chances for the likes of @Tim_Cahill

Was great until Beattie came then his head didn’t seem in it as much. Ran his socks off, and wasn’t all that bad when he put his mind to it. We sold Rooney and bought Bent 🙈 but what a bargain he turned out to be

He was a very underrated striker. Perfect target man. Ran his socks off, physically imposing, and technically good.
