Everton: Fans applaud Marcus Bent after ’emotional’ interview

Everton fans have been praising former striker Marcus Bent after he said that the Toffees will always be his “family”.

The 41-year-old spent two seasons at the club after his move from Leicester in 2004 and created a cunning partnership with himself and the Australia international Tim Cahill, with manager David Moyes loving his athleticism and his aerial ability.

His debut season was the best of his short Goodison Park tenure, scoring six goals in 37 appearances which helped the Blues qualify for the Champions League for the first time in its newly-reformed manner.

He became more of a peripheral figure the following season after the club signed James Beattie from Southampton the January prior, and never regained his form from the 2004/05 campaign.

Supporters appreciated the words that Bent said about the club and made their feelings clear on social media.
