Everton fans are really hoping that recent reports come true this summer

Everton supporters have been pretty happy in the Transfer Tavern during the international break, what with their side recording just their second Premier League away victory of the season prior to the fortnight interruption.

Sam Allardyce’s men went into their most recent league meeting with relegation-threatened Stoke City having picked up just one win from their previous 15 league matches on the road, a run which saw them muster a paltry eight points in the process. Nevertheless, the Toffees finally got that second success away from Goodison Park last time out as a Cenk Tosun brace either side of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s leveller clinched the victory for Allardyce’s side, in turn moving the Merseysiders to the 40-point mark and 12 points clear of the bottom three.

Subsequently, there have been many buoyant Toffees fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping their team can build some momentum between now and the end of the campaign ahead of the 2018/19 season.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Evertonians to get their teeth into, not least recent reports suggesting that manager Allardyce will be axed in the summer in favour of Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca.

The 45-year-old took over at the Ukrainian giants back in 2016 and led them to the domestic league title as well as the Ukrainian Cup last season, and they look set to defend their Ukrainian Premier League crown given they are six points clear with eight games to go.

Yet reports suggest that the former Porto chief could be in line to replace Allardyce at Goodison Park this summer, in news which has stimulated quite a response from Everton supporters on Twitter.

And it’s fair to say that they are hopeful that the club will indeed make the key change during the close season…
