Everton: Fans believe Seamus Coleman should leave as Djibril Sidibe looks set to remain on Merseyside

Plenty of Everton fans believe that captain Seamus Coleman should leave the club if Djibril Sidibe is signed permanently at the end of the season.
The 31-year-old has started 13 Premier League games this season but has been on both sides of the Gwladys Street faithful’s judgements over the years. Despite this, he has put up with some resilient competition in the face of the Frenchman following his loan move from Monaco in the summer. With reports suggesting that the Blues are in pole position to sign Sidibe, question marks were raised about the Ireland international’s future.
If we are to activate Djibril Sidibe’s option-to-buy clause, then where does that leave the future of Seamus Coleman? Given the likelihood that we are to keep Jonjoe Kenny after his Schalke loan spell.#EFC pic.twitter.com/i9zpDrkb6o

Coleman still has 18 months left on his contract and has scored 26 goals and provided 28 assists in 309 appearances for the Toffees. Because of this, he has been labelled with the ‘club legend‘ tag by some. Despite that, a portion of supporters believe that the Irishman’s time is up at Goodison Park and made their feelings clear on social media.
One fan said that he is free to leave and that nostalgia sometimes gets in the way, while another stated that Coleman has been “finished for years”. Check out some of the best Twitter responses down below…
Seamus has to go

No matter what swerve Coleman off, been finished for years and his leg break signified that. Sidibe looks to be a good player, his positioning is a bit of a 😬 but when he goes forward he’s boss every time. What I’ve seen and heard from Kenny is that he’s doing sound but you 1/2 https://t.co/MwsgSJ7sft

Time to see if we make any profit on 60 grand sign Sidibe and give Kenny a look in problem solved

He’s free to leave. Nostalgia gets in the way too much when it comes time to do business. Jags left and it’s coming time for Coleman and then Baines to move on. Just part of the sport.

Sign Sidibe, give Kenny new deal and loan him out again and Coleman is 2nd choice. Kenny comes back after second loan and Coleman is out the door…

Hate to see it, but all good things come to an end. 😞
