Everton: Fans debate Carlo Ancelotti’s target of Europa League football as Toffees move to 9th in the table - Everton

Some Everton fans have been reacting to manager Carlo Ancelotti as he aims to get the Toffees into the Europa League next season.

The three-time Champions League winner has his eye on European football after the Toffees moved three points behind Sheffield United in sixth place, which will become a Europa League place if Manchester City retain the Carabao Cup. Theo Walcott’s dramatic late winner during the 3-2 win against Watford on Saturday secured a precious away win which was only the club’s third of the season.

Ancelotti has miraculously turned the Blues’ season around after they were in the relegation zone in December, a 5-2 defeat to hated neighbours saw the dismissal of former boss Marco Silva. Everton now find themselves in a position where European football could be a real possibility. However, the prospect did not fill all of the Gwladys Street faithful with optimism.

Although one fan described Ancelotti’s ambitions as “refreshing”, another supporter said that they will struggle next season if they do not ship out some of the deadwood in the side.
