Everton: Fans debate whether bringing in Abdoulaye Doucoure would be a good fit in Carlo Ancelotti’s system

Plenty of Everton fans have had their say on Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure and whether he would be a good fit in Carlo Ancelotti’s system.

The Frenchman found the net during his side’s 1-1 draw against Brighton on Saturday evening whilst operating as more of an attacking midfielder, despite being known for his effective defensive traits, as per The Boot Room. The Toffees were linked with a £30m move for the Watford middle man in the summer when Marco Silva was still in charge, only to see a bid rejected, and many fans noticed his performance against the Seagulls.

He now has three goals and one assist in the attacking midfield role this season and just one goal playing in the deeper position, as per WhoScored. Promisingly, his finishing has been listed as one of his stronger characteristics, along with plenty of strength and an eye for a tackle, hinting at an all-round contribution. Taking a deeper look, he has averaged 2.1 tackles and 1.8 shots per game, illustrating the versatility that he brings to Nigel Pearson’s side. With that in mind, some Everton supporters were mixed with their thoughts on Doucoure and made their feelings clear on social media.
