A selection of Everton supporters have been discussing their expectations of what Richarlison can deliver in the 2019/20 Premier League season, after starting his latest English top-flight campaign with two goals in four games.
Richarlison is currently the Goodison Park natives’ club-record signing, having joined the Toffees on an initial £35m rising to £50m (BBC) deal from Watford in 2018, and went on to end his maiden term as their joint-leading scorer in the league with 13 successful strikes – tied with Gylfi Sigurdsson (WhoScored).
The Brazilian’s contributions during his inaugural campaign on Merseyside directly helped towards wins over Southampton, Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town, draws with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Watford, as well as aiding to triumphs over Burnley, Chelsea and Manchester United.
His brace last time out against Wolves proved vital, too, as the 22-year-old scored the opening and final goals of the day to open his account for the league season after firing blanks in the first three fixtures of the term (TransferMarkt).
Richarlison now boasts a minutes-per-goal hit rate of one every 160.5 minutes in the Premier League this season, 45.5 minutes-per-goal better than he achieved across his 35 outings in 2018/19.
Should the Nova Venecia-born forward continue on his current trajectory and play every minute of the 38 available fixtures, he would be in line for a potential end of season haul of over 20 league goals, a career-high for a single season following on from achieving such last season, having previously netted highs of five in a domestic campaign with former sides Fluminense and Watford (WhoScored).
Some Everton supporters certainly feel a 20-plus goal haul is within Richarlison’s potential, although some have suggested they will only see minor improvements from the 13-cap international…
