Everton: Fans left flummoxed by Neville Southall’s remarks - Everton

Everton fans have been left confused after comments that were made by the legendary Blues’ shot-stopper Neville Southall.

The 61-year-old spent 15 years at the club and was a significant part of the Goodison Park squad for over a decade in between the sticks.

Recognised as a legend after his heroics during the 1984/85 campaign, Southall turned out 439 times for the Toffees and kept 145 clean sheets and was only sent off twice in his entire career.

Southall was one of many that attended St George’s Hall to promote Howard’s Way, the Everton feature film that looks back on his squad in 1985 and how they won three trophies, including the First Division title which they pipped Liverpool to that season.

He admitted that he did not want to watch the film as he finds it “highly embarrassing” seeing him on screen and if it wasn’t for the other former players that attended, he would not have gone to the movie premiere.

Supporters were left flummoxed by the comments and made their feelings clear on social media.
