Everton fans were fuming at club owner Farhad Moshiri after The Times reported that he was in personal charge of leading the hunt for a new manager – and that he wants to bring back David Moyes.
The Toffees are currently on the hunt for a new coach to take the reins at Goodison Park after Marco Silva was sacked following his side’s 5-2 defeat to hated neighbours Liverpool.
Duncan Ferguson took temporary charge of the first team and led them to a 3-1 win against Chelsea on Saturday.
Everton could reappoint David Moyes as their new manager. Farhad Moshiri has taken personal charge of leading Everton’s search for a new manager and he prepared an offer for David Moyes yesterday after Shanghai SIPG’s Vitor Pereira was no longer a target. According to The Times, Moshiri has taken charge of the managerial hunt and Moyes is on the list alongside former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, who was recently dismissed by Napoli.
To prevent any scattergun approach to the market, Marcel Brands was brought in as the club’s sporting director in 2018. However, his position has seemingly been overruled by Moshiri who has decided to take responsibility for naming the team’s new boss.
Supporters were furious with the Iranian businessman’s intentions and made their feelings clear about him on social media.
Here you will find some of the best comments from Everton fans:
Completely absurd. Marcel Brands should be managing this with input from the owner and of course the board. I wonder sometimes what planet Farhad Moshiri is on. @EvertonBlueArmy .

Moshiri is becoming a really frustrating figure at the moment

If this is the case then the club have taken extra steps backwards. We have a bottle job attitude as it is. And now we may reappoint the “entering a gun fight with a knife” David Moyes. Stinks of mediocrity @Everton If this happens. Sorry to say. https://t.co/OFRezTzlAg

I don’t want to ring alarm bells needlessly but this is sounding more and more akin to Leeds previous dysfunctional ownership than the forward thinking top level club dream we were all sold.
