Loads of Everton supporters have been reacting on social media after the Goodison Park natives shared that Yannick Bolasie had joined Sporting CP on a one-season loan deal.
The move for Bolasie to join the Liga NOS outfit came just in time for the closing of the European transfer windows, having appeared to fall further down the pecking order on Merseyside with the arrival of Alex Iwobi from Arsenal.
Bolasie was instantly out of favour with Marco Silva following the Portuguese head coach’s arrival at Everton last summer, as the former Watford boss sanctioned a one-season deal for the DR Congo international to join Aston Villa in the Championship.
The 30-year-old later cut short his spell at Villa Park after making it clear he would like to attempt to rebuild his Toffees career (The Guardian), where a ruptured cruciate ligament against Manchester United in December 2016 forced him to miss a year of football.
Lyon-born Bolasie was far from the same player upon his return from his lengthy absence, offering one goal and no assists after helping create four and scoring once in his 13 league outings before the blow (TransferMarkt).
He played 21 matches in the Championship for Aston Villa during his loan spell, scoring twice, before joining RSC Anderlecht, where he would net six in 17 games across all competitions.
Everton fans were quick to react on social media when the club announced that the 35-cap forward had joined Sporting on loan, days after Bolasie had vented his frustration at his situation on Twitter, suggesting the club were playing with his career like LEGO.
Here’s how these fans reacted…
Promised so much and produced so little (except for step overs) another Everton made millionaire off into the sunset.
