Everton: Fans react negatively to fixtures selected for TV - Everton

Plenty of Everton supporters have been responding negatively to a tweet sent by the Toffees’ official account, sharing that two of their upcoming fixtures had been selected for live TV broadcast.

Everton have so far seen three of their fixtures broadcasted live on Sky Sports, but were only able to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers in-between defeats on the road to Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth.

The Toffees next take to TV screens around the country when they host Manchester City on September 28 for a 17:30 kick-off, before West Ham United travel to Goodison Park on October 19.

Two more fixtures have now been announced for Sky Sports’ cameras, with Tottenham Hotspur’s venture to the blue side of Stanley Park and Everton’s trip to Leicester City selected for live TV broadcast.

Both Premier League encounters have thus been pushed back by one day in order for their broadcast, with Spurs now travelling north on Sunday, November 3 for a 16:30 kick-off. Everton, meanwhile, travel to the King Power Stadium on December 1, also for a 16:30 kick-off.

Plenty of Blues supporters have shared their frustration in the changes on social media following the announcement, with Everton’s trip to Leicester being pushed back forcing Marco Silva’s side into one day less rest before the Merseyside Derby.

The Toffees face Liverpool at Anfield on December 4, with the game live on Prime Video.

Another gripe shared by Everton fans has been their lack of enthusiasm in facing Leicester away live on Sky Sports, given the Blues’ have not won a Premier League game on the road since March 30 (TransferMarkt), when they beat West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium.

Here are a selection of the responses shared to the announcement…
