Everton supporters have been somewhat quieter in recent times after seeing their side head into the international break having won just one of their first four Premier League matches.
Marco Silva took over at Goodison Park during the summer amid much anticipation and excitement among Toffees supporters, and while they have only beaten Southampton in the early phase of the 2018/19 season, things certainly seem to be looking up on the blue half of Merseyside. Silva’s side have won one and drawn the other three of their four games to remain unbeaten heading into the season’s first break for internationals, with that victory over the Saints intertwined with draws against Wolves, Bournemouth, and Huddersfield Town.
And while some of those results could well have been wins, there are some optimistic Evertonians up and down the country at present, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by a recent announcement from the club that owner Farhad Moshiri has ‘increased his shareholding’ in the Merseyside outfit.
The 63-year-old originally had a 49.9% stake in Everton following his purchase back in the early stages of 2017, yet a statement on the club’s website suggests that the Iranian has increased his holding to 68.6%, which will reportedly become 77.2% in the next year or so.
And many Everton fans took to Twitter in the aftermath of the announcement to express their views on the matter, with many hoping that Alisher Usmanov, who sold his shares in Arsenal earlier this year, will join his long-term business partner Moshiri at Goodison Park…
I was talking to Usmanov whilst we were waiting for the lad to get our trainers at Sports Direct & he said he’s definitely jumping on board with ‘Fat Ed’ as he calls him …..
