Everton: Fans relieved as Andre Gomes undergoes successful surgery on his ankle

Everton fans have sent their best wishes once more as news broke on Tuesday that Andre Gomes had a successful operational procedure on his ankle.

The Portuguese midfielder suffered a fractured dislocation of his right ankle during his side’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham on Sunday, where Son Heung-min brought him down at pace which led to Gomes falling awkwardly on his ankle.

Since the incident, Everton have said that the surgery went “extremely well” and will now spend time in hospital recovering before start rehabilitation.

The Daily Express have since revealed that Gomes could be out for up to a year due to the extent of the injury, meaning that Marco Silva will be without the Portugal international for the rest of the season.

Supporters have reacted in relief to the news and have been sending their kind-hearted messages to Gomes on social media after the club’s official announcement.
