Everton: Fans respond to Premier League rule regarding out of contract players - Everton

The Premier League has released a statement in agreement to push back the deadline for players who are out of contract this summer.

Amid the current crisis and season uncertainties, clubs agreed in a recent shareholders’ meeting that players who are facing the end of their contracts in June can be entered into short-term extensions. If the 2019/20 season is to bypass 30 June, the Premier League wants to ensure that its clubs are equipped with players they would otherwise have had before the campaign was halted.

For Everton, this means players facing the chop in the summer such as Cuco Martina and Oumar Niasse could remain at the club beyond June if mutual agreements are met.

Could Oumar Niasse get back into the Everton first team?

Some Blues fans are not happy with the rule and are eager to get deadwood players off their books as soon as possible. Many Toffees supporters responded to the update hoping the club will just ‘get rid’ of their out-of-contract players, with one exclaiming that the ‘season is a farce’.
