Some Everton fans have been reacting negatively to a recent post from Toffees-focused Twitter account @EvertonNewsFeed who have shared reports linking the club with a move for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard.
@EvertonNewsFeed’s recent tweet states that the Toffees, as well as Arsenal, are currently “monitoring” Lingard’s situation at Old Trafford, with the Everton-focused Twitter account citing The Metro as the source of these reports.
On Sunday, the fifth of April, The Metro named Everton and Arsenal as two clubs who “have been linked with a move for Lingard”, however, The Metro’s recent report has also claimed that Lingard is adamant that he “won’t allow himself to be pushed out of the club”, with the 27-year-old allegedly prepared “to fight for his place” at United.
Lucas Digne, who has made five Premier League assists for the Toffees this season, has provided a higher number of league assists than any other Everton player this term. He is closely followed by Djibril Sidibé, who has made four Premier League assists for the Toffees this term. No Everton player has made as many Premier League assists than either of these two full-backs this season.
Considering that no Everton player has made more Premier League assists than either of these two full-backs this season, it may be understandable why the Toffees may be looking to strengthen their midfield in the summer.
However, Lingard, who is currently valued at £19.8m according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, has failed to make a single Premier League goal contribution this season after making 20 league appearances for the Red Devils this term. With that in mind, it may be understandable why some Everton supporters have been reacting negatively to the recent reports linking their club with a move for Lingard.
