Everton fans slam Anthony Martial for diving in penalty incident

Everton fans have called Anthony Martial a cheat after getting Manchester United a penalty in the 26th minute on Sunday, which Paul Pogba converted as José Mourinho’s charges claimed an important 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

Some Toffee fans have criticised the winger for diving after Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye appeared to get the ball first but referee Jon Moss felt the challenge was clumsy and pointed to the spot for United’s opening goal.

To add insult to injury, Martial then scored a spectacular goal in the second-half to extend the Red Devils’ lead with a brilliant curling shot that found the bottom-left corner of Jordan Pickford’s goal.

Marco Silva’s men did however get a goal back with less than 15 minutes left to play through a penalty of their own by Gylfi Sigurdsson.

It wasn’t enough though as the Merseyside club’s three-match winning streak came to an end, much to the frustration of the club’s fans.

Here are some of their reactions on Twitter to the Martial incident.:
