Premiership fans beware! Brazilian striker Adriano could be coming to your club, playing rubbish and taking vast amounts of wages in the process.
Many may remember the good old days when playing Pro Evo or Fifa and picking Inter Milan simply because Adriano could shoot and score from anywhere. Well sadly those days are long gone but clubs such as Everton and Blackburn may tempted to take a punt on the 29 year old.
According to a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma are set to rescind the contract of the Brazilian striker with immediate effect.
The striker joined the club from Flamengo in the summer of 2010, but the powerful attacker’s stay in the Italian capital has not been a success so far, having played just a handful of matches this season and mainly warming the bench.
Adriano recently returned to Roma three days later than agreed after spending some time in Brazil to recover from a shoulder injury, and the former Inter forward made things even worse when he didn’t show up at an appointment with a club doctor at the weekend.
“It’s impossible to continue defending Adriano. We have done all kinds of things for him since he joined Roma. Nevertheless, we have no other choice but to take measures against him to protect the club’s interests,”
said sporting director Giampaolo Montali.
Adriano’s agent revealed on Friday that he doesn’t fear any punishment for his client, but it seems that Roma have now had enough of the flamboyant attacker and are ready to get rid of him.
Everton and Blackburn have both been short of goals up front this season but Blackburn’s Indian owners may feel this is the high profile signing they have been looking for after a failed attempt to buy fellow Brazilian Ronaldinho in January. For Everton Adriano’s wages may prove a stumbling block in any potential deal with his contract, a reported £80,000 a week at Roma.
