Everton: Greg O’Keeffe lauds former Toffee Steven Naismith for cutting his wages

Recent developments have achieved the impossible and thrown football of all things into the second plan, forcing leagues across the world to freeze until the situation hopefully improves.
Of course, as of right now, no one can say for sure when that’s actually going to happen but just the willingness to finish the ongoing 2019/20 campaign is a good starting point for everyone.
But with half of the globe basically on a forced holiday, regardless of whether they can afford to take it or not, some players have decided to take a cut in their wages in order to help their employers stay afloat in these times where profit and revenue are in danger.
One such player was a former Everton and current Hearts man, Steven Naismith, and he quickly drew the praise of Greg O’Keeffe, The Athletic’s Everton correspondent.
The journalist shared his story and called it a fantastic gesture in the process as well.

Naismith was one of the Toffees from 2012 until 2016 when he moved to Norwich.
Everton fans, what did you think of Naismith’s gesture? Should more players follow his example? Let us know down in the comments below!
