Greg O’Keeffe joined the Gwlad Tidings podcast to discuss Everton’s Djibril Sidibe and came to the conclusion that keeping him in the squad is simply not worth it at this point in time.
The 27-year-old player has had quite a career already, winning the World Cup with France in Russia and also being a part of that exciting 2016/17 Monaco squad that shocked Ligue 1 and the rest of Europe in the Champions League.
But as things currently stand, Carlo Ancelotti should be looking to find a better solution for the positions the Frenchman can cover because when everything is said and done, Sidibe just isn’t consistently good enough.
Here’s what O’Keeffe said on the Gwlad Tidings podcast (13/3/2020): “When you’re making the errors that you’ve been starting to make recently positionally, when you can’t complete 5-10 yard passes, when you’re always bringing pressure on your team like he has been in recent games, I still just don’t think it’s worth it. If you ask me to make a decision now, I’d say just find someone better, I’d say find the right-footed Lucas Digne.”
Sidibe has played a total of 24 games across all competitions in 2019/20 for Everton but he seems to be missing that consistency in his performances, as the journalist also pointed out in the very same podcast.
Of course, he’s been in the starting XI in 17 out of 25 games he’s played in the Premier League but has also only started four out of the last seven clashes, indicating that Ancelotti might also have his doubts about the player.
His loan spell at Goodison Park is set to come to an end in the coming summer and we still don’t know what the future holds for him.
