According to a recent report from The Guardian, Aaron Ramsey looks set to join Italian giants Juventus in the summer. The Wales international currently plays his football at Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and has done so since leaving Cardiff City back in 2008, although with his contract up at the end of the season, his future always looked likely to be away from the Emirates Stadium.

And reports suggest that Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus are set to land the £36 million-rated ace (as per Transfermarkt) in the summer on a free transfer, which should serve a huge disappointment to Everton manager Marco Silva, with the Toffees having missed a huge trick in failing to land what would be their midfield problem solver.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, while the Merseysiders were extremely busy during the summer bolstering their squad in a bid to compete nearer the upper echelons of the Premier League in years to come, there are still plenty of concerns about the suitability and overall quality of the central midfield ranks.

Idrissa Gueye very much appears to be the main man in that department such have been his impressive efforts since joining from Aston Villa back in 2016, and while Andre Gomes has made quite the impression following his move from Barcelona in the summer, that move is only a loan deal until the end of the season.

And with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies, and James McCarthy failing to regularly convince of their capabilities, Silva could be left with a problem come the summer were his side not able to strike a permanent deal for Portugal international Gomes - it’s a problem that Ramsey’s addition would have gone some to solving though.

The 28-year-old may have only started eight times for Unai Emery’s Gunners this season to suggest that he is falling down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, but he has on the whole proven his worth to the North London giants since his move to the club back in 2008.

Yes, there have been some low points, but with 62 goals and 64 assists in 356 appearances for Arsenal, the Welshman has also delivered the goods for the Gunners to underline his capabilities in the English top-flight.

In fact, it was only last season in which Ramsey produced one of his best goal-scoring seasons for the North Londoners with 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s side - this term may have been tough for the Wales star, but there is little doubting that he remains a supremely accomplished player.

And in showing great quality in the centre of midfield down the years, especially on the ball with composure in possession as well as seeking to get forward and create goal-scoring opportunities, he appears to be the ideal man to complement Gueye in the Everton midfield, as off the ball there are few better than the Senegal international.

Instead, Ramsey looks set to be making the move to Juventus in the summer, with the Toffees thus having missed a huge trick in failing to land their midfield problem solver.
