Guillaume Costet-Barmada, the agent of Everton forward Henry Onyekuru, has claimed the Nigerian has turned down an approach from CSKA Moscow, according to Sport24, via All Nigeria Soccer.

The Russian outlet suggests that Onyekuru would like to return to Galatasaray for another season so he can have the opportunity to play Champions League football, with CSKA Moscow only having managed to get into the Europa League.

As pointed out by All Nigeria Soccer, it is uncertain whether the 22-year old will be loaned out or sold, as he still hasn't been able to reach the 75% of national team matches for two years he would require to get a work permit in England.

It is understandable that Onyekuru wants Champions League football, not only because of the glamour it holds, but he may also feel he has a point to prove in the competition.

So far, during his spells at Anderlecht and Galatasaray, he has had seven starts and four substitute appearances without scoring or assisting a single goal.

He has also only ever experienced two wins - a 1-0 against Celtic with Anderlecht in which he played the whole game and an eight-minute cameo at the end of Galatasaray's 3-0 victory over Lokomotiv Moscow, with the rest of his appearances ending in a loss.

This doesn't mean he hasn't shown glimpses of his talent on Europe's biggest stage though, as he averaged 1.7 dribbles in his season with Anderlecht and 1.2 key passes with Galatasaray in the last campaign.

With Everton holding aspirations of reaching European competition, with the Europa League often feeling like a realistic ambition, it will benefit the club to have Onyekuru featuring at the highest level of European football possible in the view of having him in their senior squad one day.

The Nigerian has already shown glimpses of what he can do in the Champions League, so there should be a side in the competition - most likely Galatasaray - who would be interested in bringing him in for the 2019/20 campaign.
