Many Everton fans have reacted to further reports of a summer move for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
The Colombian playmaker is fondly remembered by many football fans for his World Cup 2014 campaign in Brazil, where he finished top scorer and gained a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for his performances.
Whilst his debut season with the Spanish giants proved to be a good one, Rodriguez has struggled to make a consistent impact since, having spent time out on loan for a two-year spell with Bayern Munich.
With Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane and club president Florentino Perez expected to sell a number of big names this summer, Rodriguez has now been linked with an exit, and Everton are keen.
Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo have now weighed in on the transfer link with a report of their own, claiming Toffees officials are willing to offer the Colombia playmaker a four-year contract and do what it takes to beat the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Wolves to a potential deal.
Reacting to the latest report via Twitter fan account @thetoffees_com, fans gave their opinion on the move. However it seems many aren’t too keen, with one describing it as a “vanity project” whilst another claimed it shows Carlo Ancelotti is looking for “quick wins”:
Everton have reportedly made Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez their top off-season target, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The club is willing to offer the 28-year-old a four-year contract in an attempt to fend off interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Wolves. #EFC

This is the type of signing someone with no idea of how to run a football club would make. Could anyone imagine someone like Alex Ferguson paying a fortune for a player who is 28, has never played in the PL and has underperformed at his last two clubs. It is a vanity project.

it would fly in the face of the buy young talented players, that Brands was spouting. if this happens it tells me Ancellotti is looking for quick wins. this would rate with the Eto signing for me..a mistake…

At the moment we’re being linked to anyone with two legs. It’ll be interesting to see who finally signs when the window is open.
