Everton join race for silky £8m Portugal hero, Southampton keen

The Everton fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that the club have joined the race for a Portuguese midfielder.

According to a report in The Sun, Ronald Koeman’s side have joined Southampton, Leicester and a host of other clubs in the race to sign Braga playmaker Rafa Silva this summer.

Silva, who is reportedly rated at around £8m was part of Portugal’s squad that won EURO 2016, though made just one appearance which came in the goalless draw against Austria.

With the 23-year old able to play in either the Number 10 role or out wide, he will fit in perfectly with the style that the Dutchman is wanting to implement at Goodison Park next season.

Silva joined Braga for an undisclosed fee back in the summer of 2013 and has gone on to make over 120 appearances for the Portuguese outfit, scoring on 26 occasions for the club.

How many players does Koeman need to sign to challenge for the Top 6 next season?
