Everton manager latest: Dramatic response from Toffees online amid Mark Hughes rumour

Everton manager latest: Dramatic response from Toffees online amid Mark Hughes rumour - Everton

Everton manager Marco Silva is a man under pressure after this weekend’s dreadful loss to fellow strugglers Norwich City but one of the names touted as a potential replacement for the Portuguese hasn’t exactly gone down well amongst the club’s support.

Would Everton be stupid enough to turn to Mark Hughes?

Yes

Yes

No

No

According to the Guardian, those behind the scenes at Goodison Park have identified the out of work Mark Hughes as a potential candidate as an option should they decide to relieve Silva of his duties on Merseyside. A former Everton player of course, the Welshman was sacked by Southampton almost 12 months ago now, so could be attainable fairly easily.

However, that doesn’t mean he’d be a popular option, of course. Hughes did little on the south coast to enhance his reputation after leaving Stoke City prior to moving to St. Mary’s and doesn’t appear to be the most exciting of potential names. After all, this is a wealthy club previously linked with the likes of Jose Mourinho and Erik ten Hag, so moving for a man sacked by Southampton and Stoke wouldn’t exactly be a huge statement of intent.

With that mind, here’s a look at how these fans reacted on Twitter, with many claiming they’d go as far as to give their season ticket back in protest should it happen.
