Everton monitoring 17-year-old starlet with one eye on future

Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to see their club start planning for the future in this window and, according to The Liverpool Echo, they’re looking to do so with the signing of George Hirst.

The young Sheffield Wednesday starlet is only 17-years-old but has made his senior debut for the Owls this season against Cambridge United in the League Cup.

He’s impressed, too, and now could be on his way to Everton as they look to build for the future as well as the now.

The Blues are going fairly well this season in Ronald Koeman’s first year in charge and our landlord reckons this potential signing could suggest the Dutchman is set for a long stay at Goodison Park.

Certainly, our local Toffees fans would like to see that given how highly-rated Koeman is and the fact that they want to see their club return to some form of sustained success.

Qualifying for Europe would be ideal this year, then, whilst bringing the likes of Hirst in would help cement things for the future – according to our landlord.
