Everton’s search for a new forward will have to wait until the summer transfer window after signing no players during January.

Marco Silva has been crying out for a new forward with Cenk Tosun struggling since joining from Besiktas last January. The Portuguese has opted to use Richarlison as the central forward at times throughout the season but the Brazilian has looked far more effective on the left wing.

The Toffees’ search for a new striker will have to wait until the summer when a better quality of player will be available. Offloading a number of fringe players will allow Silva greater room to manoeuvre in the transfer market to solve Everton’s goalscoring woes.

One man Everton should be targeting is Atalanta hitman – Duvan Zapata. Valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, the Colombian is currently on loan from Sampdoria after various failed spells at clubs around Italy. The 27-year-old has been one of the most in-form forwards in world football this season which should make top clubs around Europe sit up and take notice.

Zapata has found the back of the net 20 times in just 29 appearances in all competitions as well as registering five assists for his team-mates. With a deadly left foot, the former Napoli man would fit perfectly into the Everton forward line. A powerful forward, Zapata would have no issues dealing with the most physical Premier League defenders.

In a squad of Everton’s quality, his abilities would be elevated – his arrival could be just what Everton need to challenge for a top-four place next season.
