Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting the end of the season following a campaign to forget under Sam Allardyce.
The Toffees have grown disillusioned with life under the ex-England manager after he took over from Ronald Koeman. While the Blues have climbed the table following his appointment, performances have been far from ideal for the Everton fans who pay good money to watch good football. Despite his criticism, Allardyce expects to be at the club next year.
Regardless of who is in charge, the summer transfer window is a crucial period for the club. A major overhaul of the squad is necessary if the Blues are to challenge the top four next year following the failures of last summer’s window.
High on their shortlist will be a new left winger. Kevin Mirallas was loaned to Olympiacos after falling out of favour at the club, and Yannick Bolasie has failed to impress since returning from injury. Everton should make a move for Watford winger – Richarlison – who is valued at £18m by Transfermarkt.
The Brazilian forward was regarded as one of the hottest prospects coming out of Brazil but made a shock move to Watford last summer rather than one of Europe’s elite. He hit the ground running in the Premier League, but his form has dried up – not scoring a goal since November. However, in a better side, he could be a nightmare for defenders.
Alongside Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott, the 20-year-old would thrive. Under a different manager with a different style, Richarlison could rediscover his best form. It would be a gamble, but a gamble that might pay off.
Everton fans, thoughts?
