The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are oh so bored of waiting around for a new manager. It’s been over a month since the departure of Ronald Koeman and, yet, no developments seem to have been made in terms of getting a replacement.
Well, while the Toffees in the Tavern are somewhat souring, at least reports from Arab News have proven rather interesting. In the piece, Duncan Castles profiles the club’s interest in Watford boss Marco Silva, though does actually hint a big transfer line at Goodison Park.
He claims Paris Saint-Germain forward Edison Cavani IS a target for the club, who currently lack a top class central striker. Much of Everton’s struggles have been put down to the fact they failed to land someone to spearhead the attack during the summer, instead signing a raft of attacking midfielders.
Cavani has been replaced as PSG’s main star by Neymar of late and, while he may seem like an ambitious target right now, Everton are understood to be very keen on ensuring a striker of such calibre arrives. As you can imagine, this news has gone down very well amongst our resident Evertonians.
Should Everton stay up – which they probably will do – and bring someone like Cavani in, there’s no reason they can’t challenge for the top four. There’s certainly money available at Goodison Park and, with Neymar now in the French capital, things could get interesting.
