According to The Sun, Everton are preparing to launch a shock £40 million bid for outcast Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.
Batshuayi recently returned to Stamford Bridge having had his loan spell with Valencia cut short. The 25-year-old flopped in his time with the La Liga side, mustering up just three goals in 23 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 23-cap Belgium international is capable of far greater than that, as he has previously shown in prolific stints with Borussia Dortmund and Marseille.
Batshuayi seems to have no future at Chelsea, but he could still have an impact in the Premier League for Everton.
£40 million is a huge amount to spend on a striker who has been wildly inconsistent in recent years. However, Marco Silva clearly believes he can get the best out of the Belgian, and the Toffees are in desperate need of a new striker.
Cenk Tosun has been a flop since his arrival at Goodison Park, and 21-year-old Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not yet up to the task of leading the line for the Merseyside club week in, week out.
If Batshuayi can get back to his best then £40 million would be a fair price, but that is a huge gamble for Everton to take.
Given his potential to improve in the future and likely resale value though, Silva ought to roll the dice on Batshuayi.
