Everton ready to outmuscle Barcelona target in race for Stones replacement

Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have still been given no indication of a standout target for the vacant managerial position.

Still, they have been boosted as news has broken from Sport that the Toffees are tracking Rubin Kazan youngster, Mauricio Lemos.

The 20-year-old had been loaned out by the Russian side for the entirety of the 2015/16 season to La Liga outfit, Las Palmas.

Despite only making 10 appearances for the yellows, Barcelona have been keeping a close eye on Lemos all year but saw an initial bid of £4m rejected.

And it looks like Everton may just pip the Catalan giants to the centre-back’s signature as Farhad Moshiri looks to be winding up a deal believed to be in the region of £10m.

Centre-back interest at Goodison comes with the increasing uncertainty around John Stones’ future with the club who has attracted interest from big hitters Manchester City and Chelsea.

Where do Everton need to strengthen this summer?
