Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased to still be in the Premier League after the disappointing start they had to the campaign, but will now be looking ahead to the summer and seeing who can be brought in to strengthen their side.
Sam Allardyce has managed to steady the ship at Goodison Park since he arrived in October, with the club facing the real possibility of a relegation scrap to now finishing in the middle of the table. The former England manager is now readying a list of transfer targets and it is rumoured that he is looking at a division rival for one of his next targets.
According to a report by Nieuwsbald.be, the Belgian news outlet is claiming the Toffees are prepared to make an offer for Burnley’s Steven Defour. The midfielder has been at Turf Moor since 2016 and has impressed since his arrival from Anderlecht and is thought to be willing to extend his stay with Sean Dyche’s side.
Despite an injury-hit season, the 29-year-old has still managed to make 24 appearances across the campaign and has proved to be a highly-valued man with The Clarets.
Everton fans in the Tavern will be watching the transfer activity regarding Defour with interest as they will need to compete with West Ham for the Belgium international, whilst many of the locals feel Burnley will not let their man go.
Still, in need of a boost, the Toffees in our Tavern would be happy to see him arrive at Goodison Park.
