Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern were celebrating Manchester United’s EFL Cup win almost as much as the Red Devils supporters yesterday.
Not because they wanted to see them win, particularly, but because it now means if they finish seventh in the league – something they look very good to do – they will qualify for the Europa League.
That will be the next step in the club’s evolution under Ronald Koeman and, according to The Sun, they are confident of getting Michael Keane in to help matters along.
The young English centre-half has really impressed this season and has certainly emerged onto the scene in the Premier League with his performances for Burnley.
Many here by the bar think he’ll be on the move in light of those displays, too, and it seems Goodison Park appears to be the most likely destination.
It’s thought £28 million would clinch the deal and whilst that seems like a fair amount of money, the young defender still has time to get even better and join in with one of the most exciting looking young squads around.
