Everton should be in the transfer market for a new striker when the window reopens in January.
The Toffees have made a decent start to life under Marco Silva and still have a host of new signings to introduce to the first-team. Andre Gomes is still adapting to life in England while Yerry Mina is yet to feature after arriving from Barcelona with an injury. To get the best out of Silva’s system at Goodison Park, the Portuguese should target a new forward in January.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun are hard-working forwards, but both have failed to find the back of the net consistently in recent weeks. If Everton are to qualify for Europe again, they need a new striker who can fire them to glory. Therefore, they should target Leicester City star – Jamie Vardy.
Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, the England international has been a key performer for the Foxes in recent seasons, scoring goals for fun – he was a key reason behind their historic title win in 2016. Vardy’s impressive form has continued, the former Fleetwood Town forward has hit double figures for goals in the Premier League during the past three campaigns. Vardy already has three goals to his name for Claude Puel this year.
The 31-year-old possesses an excellent work rate but lethal finishing ability that would surely increase Everton’s goal output. His intelligent runs and expert movement will have Glyfi Sigurdsson licking his lips and give Richarlison the perfect partner in attack. Reports suggest that Vardy is unhappy after being dropped for the draw against Leicester meaning now is the ideal time for Everton to make their move.
