Everton should land clinical £19.8m-rated striker to turn their attacking fortunes around

The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that next season will provide Goodison Park with more entertainment and better football after a season of watching a lifeless Sam Allardyce side.

It’s been a long and poor season for Everton, and for a campaign that promised so much at the start of the season, all Everton have provided is a disappointment to the loyal fans. That simply has to change this summer and the Toffees need to spend wisely in the transfer market to make sure they don’t repeat last summer’s mistakes.

A player who has been in top form this season and would make a great signing at Everton is Lyon’s Mariano Diaz, who is valued at £19.8 million by Transfermarkt. Diaz arrived from Real Madrid at the start of the season and since then has provided a quality attacking threat for Lyon, scoring 21 goals in 42 games.

The 24-year-old only featured a few times for Madrid but now he’s been given the chance to blossom in France, Everton would be wise to try and acquire the forward who has been so good in front of goal. His quality has certainly spiked this season and although he’s been scoring goals throughout his early career, Diaz is now proving that he is capable of big things if his performances from this campaign can continue.

Everton have lacked firepower this season, and they’re yet to really replace Romelu Lukaku. Diaz, then, could be just what they need this summer – and he could help transform the team ahead of next season.
