Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern certainly aren't singing the blues after watching Jordan Pickford send England into the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

The Toffees keeper made a fantastic save in stoppage time to keep the Three Lions in the game before keeping out a penalty allowing Eric Dier to send Gareth Southgate’s side into the last eight of the competition. Our regulars are delighted to see their keeper doing well and are hoping his form continues in the new season. However, they want to look at some new signings at Goodison Park.

New boss Marco Silva will be keen to strengthen their squad but needs to offload some players before he can start spending. Ramiro Funes Mori and Wayne Rooney have already left the club with Kevin Mirallas and Ashley Williams also set to depart. Then, attention can turn to transfer targets.

One man who should be considered in Inter Milan midfielder – Joao Mario. Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Portugal international spent half of last season on loan at West Ham United, making 13 appearances, scoring two goals and notching one assist. He travelled to Russia and made four appearances for his country.

Inter paid £36m to bring him from Sporting Lisbon, but the move has not worked out. Everton should attempt to bring him back to the Premier League to get his career back on track. Still only 25-years-old, Silva could help the midfielder fulfil his potential if he can iron out his attitude problems.

It would be a risky move to make, but a gamble that could be worth taking.
