The Everton fans down in the Football Transfer Tavern are in relaxed mood ahead of the new season.
They have seen their club get their transfer window shopping out of the way early this summer and fancy their chances for a crack at the top six.
Ronald Koeman has recruited seven players, including England trio Michael Keane, Jordan pickford and ex-Toffee Wayne Rooney.
It appeared the Dutchman’s next move was to lure Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke, but rumours over a potential deal have been put to rest.
With a goalscorer in mind, one player who could help to fill the boots of Romelu Lukaku is former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
The Bosnian forward currently leads the line for Roma and has enjoyed a resurgence to his career since leaving Manchester. He finished last season on a remarkable 29 Serie A goals and as the 7th top goalscorer in all of Europe.
The 31-year-old who played his part in City’s dramatic title win in 2012 could be tempted with a move back to the Premier League.
Wayne Rooney’s goalscoring form has laboured in recent years and Everton simply cannot rely on the Englishman. After Lukaku’s departure, the club are crying out for striker to put the ball in the net.
But the Toffees will have to cough up a substantial fee if they want to prize the hitman from Rome.
Everton fans, we want to hear from you! Would you like to see Dzeko lead the line? Or do you have another striker in mind? Let us know in the comments!
