Everton suffer significant blow as reported target opens up on future

Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are keen to see their side push on for the rest of the season and then build on that going into the summer but, it appears, Franck Kessie won’t be a part of that.

The Toffees have been flying this season in the Premier League and have a very good chance of reaching the Europa League spots come the end of the campaign.

From there, Ronald Koeman will want to make his side even stronger once the next transfer window opens but, after seeing a bid rejected for Kessie in January, that particular deal is looking very unlikely.

The Ivorian international has hugely impressed for Atalanta in Serie A this season and many here by the bar are keen to see him in the Premier League, with Manchester United his apparent favoured destination.

He’s been quoted by The Evening Standard as saying:

“I like the Premier League and in particular Manchester United, the club I dream of playing for.”

Looks like he knows where he wants his future to lie, then, and it appears that isn’t going to be on Merseyside.

Ronald Koeman will have to reassess his targets, then, though having the likes of Tom Davies emerge in midfield should soften the blow somewhat.
