Morgan Schneiderlin’s 2019/20 season has started in one of the worst possible ways. The Frenchman became the first player in the Premier League to be sent off this season as he picked up two bookings in 22 second-half minutes.

The 29-year-old had been one of the Toffees’ better performers up until his red card, with The Liverpool Echo giving him a rating of 7/10 for his display, a rating only bettered by Yerry Mina and Jordan Pickford for the travelling side.
It’s the sending off that he’ll be remembered for in this tie, though, and it could be one that gives Marco Silva a dilemma ahead of next week’s return to Goodison Park to face Watford, as Andre Gomes was substituted with a knock in the clash too, meaning he could also be unavailable next weekend.

The Toffees were obviously far from pleased with their midfielder, and when the Frenchman returns from suspension he’ll have some work to do to prove himself to them.
