Fabian Delph made his first league start for Everton in Sunday’s 3-2 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers and many fans were impressed with his performance.
The England international missed Everton’s first three games of the campaign after suffering an injury in preseason, which was reported by The Liverpool Echo at the time.
He managed 74 minutes in the Carabao Cup victory over Lincoln City, as per Transfermarkt, before going on to play the full 90 against Wolves and he certainly took his opportunity to make a mark.

In addition to the statistics cited in Everton’s infographic, Delph made 4 tackles and 3 interceptions, as per WhoScored, highlighting just how important he can be defensively for the Toffees – he also completed 85% of all the passes he attempted during the game.
His defensive contributions, in particular, will be seen as highly encouraging, due to the fact that Jean-Philippe Gbamin will not be missed to the same extent while injured with Delph working so well in front of the backline.
A selection of Twitter reaction to his performance, including posts from impressed Everton fans, can be seen below:

Superb. If he stays injury free it’s the best signing of the whole window for all clubs
