Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern have really enjoyed this summer transfer window as they have really been quick to sign players.
The men from Goodison Park knew, coming into the window, that if they were to break into the top six in the league they would have to spend big and that is what they have done.
Indeed, the likes of Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford have arrived and, according to The Guardian, the transfer business may not have finished just yet.
Certainly, they are of the opinion that the Toffees are lining up a rather surprising move for West Ham defender James Collins.
The Welsh defender has bags of Premier League experience but he’d surely only be signed as a back up option with Ramiro Funes Mori a real injury problem.
It’s likely, then, that if the Welshman signs he’d have to put up with less game time but with the Toffees in the Europa League – providing they get through the play-offs – he may get a chance to feature at points through the season.
Here’s what our landlord thinks of it all, meanwhile.
Collins has got bags of experience in the Premier League but it’s more than likely that he’ll actually be used as back-up and in the cup games.
Of course, the Toffees are going to have to convince him that this is where his future lies as he is more likely to play games at West Ham and it’ll be interesting to see just how Ronald Koeman goes about getting him to Merseyside.
