Following the news that construction firm Laing O’Rourke looks set to take forward the plans for a new Everton stadium on Bramley-Moore dock, many Toffees supporters have been split over the idea that they are the right contractors to get it done – whilst also becoming divided over the new ground in general.
Work on the new stadium is expected to start ‘later this year‘, with an update from Everton’s official website confirming that the 52,000-seater will be constructed as planned. The construction is also expected to take three years, with the Toffees playing at their current ground Goodison Park until the 2023/2024 season as an estimate.
Everton’s official site can also tell us that the new ground will ‘take inspiration‘ from warehouses nearby, adopting an almost maritime look made up of brick, steel and glass. However, the presumably welcomed news has divided these Toffees supporters – with one fan, in particular, stating that it ‘stinks of Kenwright’.

Laing O’Rourke has never delivered a stadium before. No ambition from the club with this appointment – typical Everton cutting costs where possible. Stinks of Kenwright.

This is good news, great company has been chosen imo. Would like to see segments, concrete make up etc. delivered via the Liverpool dock estate by train so as to remove unnecessary lorry journeys and improve upon the stadiums sustainability figures.
