According to a report from the Sun (via Nottinghamshire Live), Everton are currently in the mix to sign young Championship ace Matty Cash for a potential £12m.
Cash, who has impressed for Nottingham Forest so far this season in England’s second tier – with two goals and two assists from right-midfield – is currently a hot prospect for Sabri Lamouchi’s side.
The right-midfield slot is a position the Toffees arguably need to strengthen in January, with Theo Walcott being their only natural winger. while the likes of Alex Iwobi can also play in that position.
Richarlison has been put out wide recently by Marco Silva as well, but Cash could definitely help provide some solid backup in that area of the squad.
According to reports, Everton sent scouts to watch the Englishman play for Forest, with them being impressed by his versatility as a midfielder and a right-back.
Crystal Palace and Southampton are also reportedly eyeing the youngster, with the Toffees potentially facing a battle for his signature when the January transfer window opens.
Indeed, whether or not Silva decides it’s necessary to splash the cash on a Championship player, there are few that would argue he wouldn’t have potential as a signing – with the 22-year-old still possessing plenty of years to blossom even further into a great addition to the side.
Cash rose through Forest’s academy ranks as a youngster, and if the move goes through, Everton could land another decent homegrown aspect to their squad.
