Everton update: London talks imminent as manger target eyes assurances and 2.5-year deal

While sometimes the hunt for a new manager can be an exciting one, the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are finding the whole process rather draining. After an awful campaign so far, the punters propping up our bar are far from happy.

Whoever comes in to takeover from Ronald Koeman has a big job on his hands and reports from the Sun suggest one man linked with a move to Goodison Park could make some rather big demands as a result. Indeed, they claim that Sam Allardyce would ask for a large bonus to keep the Toffees afloat, as well as a major reshuffle of their backroom staff.

The former England manager is thought to be heading for talks in London imminently and reportedly wants a two-and-a-half-year deal on Merseyside, apparently needing assurances he’s a long-term option for Everton. Indeed, the 63-year-old is believed to already be eyeing a role for Craig Shakespeare as his assistant manager.

As you can imagine, the idea of seeing Big Sam arrive at Everton has split opinion in our bar.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Sam Allardyce would certainly keep Everton up, but what after that? For a club who have big ambitions, a man who is only really known as a survival specialist may not inspire too much excitement going forward.
